Summer vacation looks a bit different this year so we're helping you embrace the STAY-cation!

We're all trying to stay closer to home this year which means more time at the lake. While your typical summer vacation may have been canceled, it doesn't mean there's no way to enjoy the summer. So, we've compiled a list of staycation spots. Stay safe and enjoy!

1. Wind Creek State Park

This beautiful park has a campground with public access to Lake Martin. Fish, swim, hike, ride horses, ride bikes, enjoy the playground and picnic areas - even bird watch!

2. Smith Mountain Fire Tower Trail

Hike the trail to the tower, rest, then climb the steps to the top of the tower for breathtaking views!

3. Goat Island

Located north of Martin Dam and populated with - you guessed it Goats! Stop and relax with the goat residents. Feed them if you like but be sure to follow the diet suggested on the Goat Island Facebook page. Hint - they love Cheetos!

Staying Home Instead?

Luckily there are lots of ways to still enjoy the summer while staying safe.

4. Lake Martin Machine Gun

Get away to Lake Martin Machine Gun for outdoor machine gun rental experience and classes.

5. The Landing at Parker Creek

Boat or drive to The Landing and enjoy a casual lunch, dinner and/or a cold drink! The family can swim, play family-style games such as corn hole, ladder toss and ring toss.

6. Red Hill Gallery

Pottery, original artwork, classes and more! Also next door is the newly opened Red Hill Kitchen!
